2017 AT&T Top 20 Somerset Patriots Baseball Card Set

(Updated 2/24/18) During the 2017 baseball season, the Somerset Patriots celebrated their 20th-anniversary by announcing their top 20 Somerset Patriots of all-time. This list was composed by a hybrid method having a panel of experts rate the top 20 players that were voted on by fans.

On August 31st, the Patriots invited 5 retired Top 20 Patriots players back to TD Bank Ballpark, joining 3 current roster Top 20 players, and celebrated this history.

The first 2000 fans that night got a complimentary SGA baseball card set of the Top 20 Patriots as determined by this process. This set will not be offered in the Patriot's shop, so it makes a nice collectible. The ranking of the Top 20 Patriots was as follows:

2007 Atlantic League All-Star Game - Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Autographed 2007 Atlantic League All Stars Choice Set

During the 10^th-anniversary season of the Atlantic League, Lancaster's Clipper Magazine hosted the 2007 Atlantic League All-Star Game on July 11^th, treating the 7,361 fans in attendance to a slug fest featuring home runs by Javier Colina (NW), Kevin Haverbusch (LI), Jeremy Todd (LA), Dominick Ambrosini (LA), Denny Abreau (CM) and two home runs by game MVP and Bridgeport outfielded Bobby Malek.

The 14-run/21-hit game, featured Long Island’s Ray Navarrete earning the game-winning RBI in the fifth and Newark pitcher Gary Knotts gaining the victory before inclement weather ended the game in the 8^th with the win going to the North Division who was leading 8-6 at that time.

Former Major League, 288-win veteran Tommy John skippered the North Division team while Lancaster Manager Frank Klebe managed the South Division.

A 29-card set was produced commemorating this occasion featuring such Atlantic League greats as Jeff Nettles (who did not play in the game because he was signed a week earlier by the Kansas City Royals), Ray Navarrete, Dwight Maness, and 2007 Pitcher of the Year Brian Adams with 2007 Co-Player of the Year Victor Rodriguez.

Arguably the greatest left-handed pitcher in Atlantic League history, Brian Adams is inarguably the greatest starting pitcher ever to toe the rubber for the Somerset Patriots.

Pitching as a reliever in the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers’ farm systems, Adams joined the Pat’s in 2007, and made an explosive transition into a starting pitcher role and the rotation by putting up a 15-2 season (incorporating a perfect 11-0 home record) with 117 K’s while seizing the Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year Award for that season.

Adams would follow up his 2007 campaign with two more back-to-back double-digit wins seasons for Somerset with records of 11-7 in 2008 and 13-8 in 2009. In these 3 seasons, Adams had close to a .700 winning percentage.

In his four-year tenure with Somerset, the Clemson alumnus was instrumental in leading Somerset to post-season berths in each year and a major contributor to two Atlantic League Championships for the franchise (2008/2009).

Adams finished his career as the Patriots all-time career win leader with 43 wins which also places him in 8th place on the Atlantic League all-time career wins list, but in first place for all-time career wins in the league by a southpaw.

Adams was voted the 6^rd greatest Patriot of all time in a 2012 polling of fans, players, coaches and team officials and was also so honored on the poll by having the highest ranking of any Somerset pitcher in their history.
